The groundbreaking ceremony for the $50 million distribution center and regional headquarters discount grocer Aldi is building on SR 7 and Okeechobee Boulevard will be on Aug. 30, said Kelly Smallridge, president and chief executive officer of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County. The ceremony will be private, open only to elected village officials, all county commissioners and members of the project’s development team. About 20 people will be invited, Smallridge said. The 821,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in the fall of 2014.
