Wife of Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall back in jail for violating court order

By Post Staff

The wife of Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall is back in a Broward County jail Friday afternoon for violating a court order to stay away from Marshall and their house following a late-April stabbing incident.

Michi Nogami-Marshall, 27, was arrested at their Southwest Ranches home around 11:30 a.m. Friday. According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies initially came to the house in response to a 9-1-1 hang-up from Marshall’s residence around 10:05 a.m. Nogami-Marshall told deputies that the call was made after she and Marshall got into a verbal dispute, though the identity of the caller is not known.

According to the report, Nogami-Marshall had been living in the house while Marshall was previously out of town. According to the arrest report, her actions “clearly violate the pre-trial conditions pursuant to the order to stay 500 feet away from the residence and to ‘not’ have contact” with Marshall.

Add: Bond was set Saturday morning at $1,000.

Nogami-Marshall was initially arrested on April 22 after allegedly stabbing her husband in the stomach. Marshall’s wounds were not deemed serious, and Nogami-Marshall was released from jail on $7,500 bond.

The state attorney’s office continues to investigate the incident, but its investigation has not gone anywhere because Marshall has declined to cooperate. Marshall has been married to his wife, whom he met in college at the University of Central Florida, since April 2010.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said last month that the league office is monitoring the Marshall situation, and will review it after the lockout for any potential violation of the NFL personal conduct policy. Marshall initially lied to deputies in April when said he received his wound by falling on a broken glass vase. Goodell also said “we do expect anyone involved with a legal issue to cooperate with law enforcement.”

Marshall has healed from his stab wound, according to sources, and has resumed his offseason workout program.

Marshall, 27, is entering the second year of a five-year, $50 million contract he signed with Miami last summer. But whenever the lockout ends, the Dolphins will have a 30-day window to decide if they want to keep Marshall.

If they cut Marshall, they will have paid him $12.5 million for one year of service, in which he caught 87 passes for 1,014 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games. If they keep him, they will owe him $25 million more over the next three seasons. Marshall also has salaries of $9.1 million due for 2013 and 2014.
