LB Channing Crowder told British media Sunday night he was only kidding last week when he claimed, among other things, that he couldn’t find England on a map.
Following the Dolphins 13-10 loss to the Giants, a British TV reporter told Crowder he’d caused a bit of a stir across The Pond and asked whether he had anything to tell the English people.
“I would like to say I’m quite intelligent,” Crowder said. “I got a 1280 on the SAT. I don’t know if you take that over here.
“I was joking. I’m known as a joking guy on the team. Internationally, they don’t know that. It was all a joke.”
Crowder, 23, cracked up South Florida reporters last week when he said he didn’t realize until Tuesday that people spoke English in London.
“I couldn’t find London on a map if they didn’t have the names of the countries,” Crowder continued. “I swear to God. I don’t know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that.”
Crowder, a member of the National Honor Society in high school, said he didn’t mean to offend anyone.
“I know where everything is,” he said.
And now that he’s been to England, seen the city and witnessed the crowd at Wembley Stadium, he said he can’t wait to come back.
“If they invite us over, I’ll be the first one on the plane.”
