Fort Pierce Central LB Sharieff Rhaheed has wrist surgery

By Jeff Greer

Fort Pierce Central will start the 2013 season without its star linebacker.

Sharieff Rhaheed (6-2, 200, No. 4 on the Big Board) had wrist surgery to repair a fractured bone he sustained in February and told reporters on Monday he’ll start practicing in a month.

Rhaheed, who committed and decommitted from LSU this summer, will be a key member of Central’s defense this fall. In addition to Rhaheed, who plans to visit Arkansas and Louisville in the coming months before making his final college choice on Oct. 18, Central also has Louisville commit Rashawn Shaw at defensive end and Division I prospect Mike Percival at cornerback.

This spring Central coach Josh Shaffer said Rhaheed and Shaw could end up as a package deal to a college. Rhaheed visited Louisville with his teammate last month. But for now, the focus is on getting healthy.
