West Virginia lands fifth area recruit: Pahokee DT Richard Ash

By Jason Lieser

West Virginia has been very active in Palm Beach County this season and that effort was rewarded with a commitment from Pahokee’s coveted defensive tackle Richard Ash.

Ash (6-4, 270, No. 10 on The Big Board) is the fifth local player to commit to the Mountaineers this season, joining Blue Devils WR/RB Fred Pickett, American Heritage WR Darius Millines, Glades Central DB Travis Bell and Dwyer DB Robert Clark.

“I like being able to go with so many kids from Florida,” Ash said. “That helps with moving to a new area.”

Ash visited West Virginia in September and also visited UCLA. He has a trip to Rutgers planned this weekend.

Ash said he was impressed by the campus and the coaching staff during his visit to Morgantown.

He is the eighth Blue Devil to commit to a BCS program this season.
