Florida coach Will Muschamp says LB Dee Finley considering transferring

By Jason Lieser

The brief Florida career of Dee Finley might be finished.

Gators coach Will Muschamp said this morning that Finley, a back-up linebacker, is thinking about leaving the program. Since arriving in 2009, Finley has appeared in 19 games, including five this year. He had a total of 12 tackles.

Muschamp said he spoke with Finley this week and advised him to take a little more time to consider his options.

“Dee and I talked the other night,” Muschamp said. “We’re going to meet again. I told him he needed to take a little time to think about what he wanted to do and where he was in his mind. He and I plan on probably trying to meet today and we’ll address that as we go.”

Finley came to Florida as a safety after playing at Auburn (Ala.) High School and Milford Academy. He moved to linebacker last year.

Finley often has been sidelined by injury and other issues. Former coach Urban Meyer benched him for the second game of last season for undisclosed reasons, then he missed the last seven games of the year with a broken collarbone.

Finley also missed Florida’s game against Tennessee because he had been arrested on campus earlier in the week for driving a scooter on a suspended license and resisting arrest.
